High Performance Computing using a Parallella Board Cluster

The project aims to build a high performance computer as a cluster of Parallella boards.Once the cluster has been created, the system will be benchmarked and compared with other similar systems to ascertain any limitations or advantages of using the Parallella. The Parallella board is a credit card sized computer with a multi-core Adapteva Epiphany chip; we intend using five of these boards for the initial cluster. Through this project we wish to investigate whether a cluster of cheap and power efficient Parallella boards can offer comparable performance to some of the more expensive HPC options.
