Extracts and Revisions to "Compiling with C# and Java" (Terry,2005)

Over the years that I used the textbook, several revisions to the material were made, based on the experience gained in presenting it, and the reactions of the students in my classes. Early on, a smaller version was all that was needed, as there was no time to cover it all and, indeed, the C#Minor material was never used. And to add to the motivation, the book itself was badly promoted by the publishers and all too soon went out of print (the copyright reverting to me).

By the last revision, the material of chapters 2, 3, 7, 10 and 14 had been fairly extensively reordered and better explained (14 in particular), and only one of the case studies in chapter 11 was retained. The exercises - really a key feature of the book - were extirpated, although of course many were chosen for the laboratory practical course, and these can be found (with solutions) on other parts of this website.

The following is made available for the curious (These are 200 MB+ files). More details can be found on the website https://www.cs.ru.ac.za/compilerbook/CSharpAndJava2017/index.html
